The Constitution of IHMA allows for the forming of Regional Committees. At the moment there is one such body, the European Harbour Masters’ Committee (EHMC). The EHMC has its own secretariat and its elected Chairman is co-opted to ExCo.
It is anticipated that further regional groupings will be formed.
The European region within IHMA is managed by a board that includes the Chairman, Committee members and a Secretary. The board is composed of two members for each of the South, East, West and North European regions plus a country in the middle. This composition is considered the optimal situation since it can steer a common vote in cases where different approaches exist. Also this way the geographical spread of board members over Europe is as wide as possible. |
